2024/25 Women’s Fours Champions

Abbe Clark, Jean Paviour-Smith, Ariane Dixon & Cheryl Jones

with runners-up Deb Lewin, Sue Owens, Sue Ward & Maryanne Holland

A great and competitive game with Deb’s team starting with a 7-0 lead after 3 ends before Abbe’s team clawed its way back to be 8-8  after end 8. Then it was shot for shot to have it all tied up again on 14 all after 15 ends. After 19 ends it was Abbe’s team leading by one shot at 17-16 before picking up the next 3 shots to lead 20-16 with one end to go.  With a long end thrown, Cheryl moved the jack to within a foot of the ditch and made it virtually impossible for Deb’s team to get the required shots. Abbe’s team went on to win the game 22-16.

A really great game, played in great spirit and with every player contributing some wonderful bowls.

Congratulations to all players.

Footnote. Kerry had originally put this team together with Abbe, Jean and Cheryl. After her accident she was unable to play and the team was reconstituted to include Ariane.

Today her team played for her as well. She was in our hearts throughout the game.

2023/24 Mixed Pairs Champions

Wayne Hughes & Jean Paviour-Smith

with runners-up Dick Nowland & Annette Thompson

An extremely high standard of bowling by all players

was on display in this tight game played over 4 hours.

After 15 ends it was tied up at 11 all.

Wayne & Jean then won the next 2 ends to go into the last end 14-11.

Needing to score 3 or kill the end to force an extra end Dick had to drive, but

somehow his last bowl went through a gap without touching anything.

Leaving Wayne & Jean with a 18 – 11 win.

A truly great exhibition of bowling by all four players enjoyed by a wonderful audience.

2023/24 Mixed Fours Champions

Luke Rash, Frank Borg, Carmel Borg & Jan Poole

with runners-up Laurie Barrett, Brett Davis, Abbe Clark & Jean Paviour-Smith

A closely contested, low-scoring game which looked like going

to an extra end before Luke’s team won by one shot.

Great play by everyone involved.

Particular thanks to the great audience who turned up to watch.
